Meelobee
Hello, my name is Martijn Laman, 34 years old from The Netherlands. Online I go by the name Meelobee and I'd like to show you 'Project Inverted' my work in progress scratch build. After building my Harman/Kardon HTPC (Buildlog here: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=211666 ) I've started on a new project that I'd like to share with you. I've allready done quite a bit and have a couple of buildlogs on other sites, so I'll just show what I've made so far and post updates when I have them. Hardware (so far): Cooling [*:289tvlg4]2x EK Coolstream Rad XT 240[*:289tvlg4]1x EK RAM Dominator X4 Acetal[*:289tvlg4]1x EK Supreme HF Acetal[*:289tvlg4]4x Enermax TB Silence Fans (12cm)[*:289tvlg4]1x Coolermaster Turbine 1.8[*:289tvlg4]Loads of BitsPower Matt Black fittings PC [*:289tvlg4]Asus Sabertooth Z77[*:289tvlg4]16Gb (4x4Gb) Corsair Dominator GT (CMT8GX3M2B2133C9)[*:289tvlg4]Corsair AX750 PSU[*:289tvlg4]1x 7" Lilliput Touch screen Warning! loads of pictures ahead!!! The front The side The back The inside EK Coolstream Rad XT 240 with Enermax fans & MDPC-X Sleeving Start of the left front Corsair Dominator GT (CMT8GX3M2B2133C9) Asus Z77 Sabertooth motherboard: Unfortunately I forgot to make pictures of the motherboard. But I do have these where the motherboard is allready mounted on the case: EK-RAM Dominator X4: Installed on the memory: Made a start with the visible tubing, using Bitspower Crystal Link tubes: Did some measuring and filing for the sata connectors: After installing the mobo the gap between it and the backplate kinda bugged me, so I've made these: They'll be installed next to the mobo like this: So yeah then I ran into a small problem, mainly because I didn't plan ahead.. The only panel on the case that should be able to come off hasn't got enough room to actually come off: Because of the reservoir the panel with the fan can only come off by moving it upwards, but it can't because the part with the blue line on it is blocked by the motherboard, and there is not enough room to move it back, there is only a 6mm gap between the panel and the reservoir (at the green arrow) So yeah that sucks.. :wallbash: But I think I found a solution that hopefully looks good too. To do this I had to cut the panel in two pieces: And I've cut a stainless steel hinge into the right size: The hinge is mounted onto the panel like this, (The screws will be hidden) And I've also made a Sketchup design for the pass-through for the ATX wires: Finished the pannel with the hinge: When the psu fan is installed the top part can't swing open this far, but still far enough to allow the pannel to 'slide' up and clear the mobo. Filled the screwholes and sanded them flush with the pannel: Continuing with the ATX pass-through pannel, this is what I drew in Sketchup: And this is what I got in the mail today: I've cut 2 lenghts of wire, 12 for the inner curve and 12 for the outer curve, this way the cables align best. Then I soldered the pins to the wires and sleeved it with Paracord. Here's how it looked when I was halfway done: And after 3 evenings filled with burns and curses I´ve got this: I've been trying to figure out a way to connect the EATX connecors without running a bundle of cables in front of the mobo. This is what I came up with; I've soldered pins to 2mm brass bars and bend the bars into the right shape: Testfit (crappy iPhone pic ) Now let's hope the bars won't melt Filled the gaps between the pins on the eatx connector with metalputty and filed it down: Fits like a glove There will be some spacers in between the 2 bars, and the bars will be isolated from eachother by either heatshrinks or plastidip. More to come!

Meelobee
So yeah the brass rods.. They look cool, but material wise they are crap. This is because brass isn't such a good conductor. Compared to copper, brass has about a quarter of the conductivity and that could mean the brass rods could get (very) hot when the pc is under heavy load. I don't like the idea of my pc catching fire ( ) so I redid the rods, but this time I used 3mm solid copper bars. The pins on the rods are isolated with 2 layers of Plastidip (rubberpaint) and the rods are isolated with heatshrink: Bonuspic

Meelobee
Thanks Frozensnail I've spend quite some time on sanding a couple of small parts of the case, preparing them for paint. Started sanding with P400 and worked down to P1200. Then I applied the first layer of primer and after the paint dried I've sanded them again and applied a 2nd layer of primer: Naked shot After priming
Meelobee
More primer! Left side panel after 1st layer of primer Parts of the front of the case after 2 layers of primer Parts of the front and back after 2 layers of primer The 'grain' of the primer before sanding. Meelobee
Allright another update I've made a bracket that will hold the RGB leds, and adds a crossbar in the upright part. The crossbar has some holes in it to allow the tubing and cabling (24 Pin ATX, 8 Pin ATX) to go to the top part of the case.
