Time to move on.

I have received the oak i have orderd so i can continue with the inside of the desk.

16jun3.jpg

But first i have to finish the reservoirs.I painted the spacers with bootslak.

16jun4.jpg

Now its time to make the feet for the reservoirs. For this i cut 2 pieces of stainless steel.

16jun5.jpg

Then i took some stainless steel and made 6 axles.

16jun6.jpg

16jun7.jpg

16jun8.jpg

The idea was to use only 1 axle per feet but i decided to use 3 axles so i had to drill a few more holes. Then i welded 2 axles on the feet.

16jun9.jpg

Then i welded the 2 other axles on the reservoirs..

16jun10.jpg

16jun11.jpg

All parts together.

16jun12.jpg

The reservoirs will be mounted on the mobotray with the 3 holes on the picture below.

16jun13.jpg

The end result.

16jun14.jpg

16jun15.jpg

16jun16.jpg

16jun17.jpg

16jun18.jpg

16jun19.jpg

On to the next job.

I have bought a aquaero 5 that im gonna use inside the desk.

8jul11.jpg

First i made an housing for the aquaero from stainless steel.

8jul1.jpg

8jul2.jpg

8jul3.jpg

I totaly forgot to make a picture from the sanding. Then i made the hole for the housing in de backpanel of the desk.

8jul4.jpg

Finally i could start to work with the oak i received earlier.Time to make an oak backpanel.

8jul5.jpg

8jul6.jpg

8jul7.jpg

Now thats finisht its time to mount the I/O plate back in the desk.

8jul8.jpg

Then i mounted the backpanel en de housing for the aquaero.

8jul9.jpg

Time to make some more wood details and again i forgot to make pictures im getting old i guess.

8jul10.jpg

This is how it looks at this point.I have to say the housing for the aquaero looks kinda big so i think im gonna make a new one.

8jul12.jpg

8jul13.jpg

8jul14.jpg

8jul15.jpg

8jul16.jpg

8jul17.jpg

Time to make the new housing for the aquaero.Again i used 2mm stainless steel.

The housing is made out of 6 parts.

First i spotwelded, welded and finisht the housing

14jul1.jpg

14jul2.jpg

14jul3.jpg

Then i made 2 plates for mounting the housing.

14jul4.jpg

Welded the plates.

14jul5.jpg

14jul6.jpg

14jul7.jpg

The old housing.

14jul8.jpg

The new housing.

14jul9.jpg

14jul10.jpg

14jul11.jpg

In my opinion the housing looks mucg better now and im satisfied with the endresult.

Because Aqua Computer has no backplates for my blocks i made a few backplates myself.

The backplates are made of 2mm stainless steel.

14jul12.jpg

14jul13.jpg

14jul14.jpg

Because the blocks have a brused stainless steel plate i want to brush the backplates also.

I used some sanding paper and some scotch brite for this.

14jul15.jpg

The result.

14jul17.jpg

14jul18.jpg

14jul19.jpg

Because brushed stainless steel easily stains i painted it with varnish.

14jul20.jpg

Ready to paint.

14jul21.jpg

The end result.

14jul22.jpg

14jul23.jpg

More to come.

Time to mod again.First i re made the rad covers.

Aug4-1.jpg

Then i took a piece of oak and cut it in pieces.

Aug4-2.jpg

Aug4-3.jpg

From the pieces i made triangles.

Aug4-4.jpg

Now thats finisht its time to fit the rad covers.

Aug4-5.jpg

Aug4-6.jpg

Aug4-7.jpg

Time to put the triangles in place.I have 2 options to mount them on the rad covers.

Option 1.

Aug4-8.jpg

Aug4-9.jpg

Aug4-10.jpg

Option 2.

Aug4-11.jpg

Aug4-12.jpg

Aug4-13.jpg

I like both options so maby i can make a chioce with the top on.

Aug4-14.jpg

Aug4-15.jpg

Aug4-16.jpg

Aug4-17.jpg

Aug4-18.jpg

Aug4-19.jpg

I go for option 1.

On to the next job.

Because of some design change i have to remake the cover for the four fans in the front.I could make a new one but i choose to customize the old one.

11aug1.jpg

First i cutt the cover to the right lenght.

11aug2.jpg

Then i cutt a piece of 2mm aluminium.

11aug3.jpg

Spotwelded the piece on the cover.

11aug4.jpg

Because the cover is 800 mm long its not wise to weld it in 1 time because you end up with a banana. So i welded the cover with small steps.

11aug5.jpg

11aug6.jpg

Some sanding and the cover is done.

11aug7.jpg

Test fitt.

11aug8.jpg

11aug9.jpg

To get acces to the aquaero i had to cutt out a piece from the backplate.

11aug10.jpg

11aug11.jpg

11aug12.jpg

Thats finisht to.A few days back i have received my fittings and im not using tube but im gonna use stainless steel 10mm pipe.

The fittings.

11aug14.jpg

11aug15.jpg

11aug16.jpg

The pipe.

11aug13.jpg

I also did a leak test and its all good. :D.

11aug17.jpg

On to the next job.

To get acces to de back of the desk i need to remove the top cover and then the backcover so i made some changes.

First i measure the piece that has to go.

1sep2012.jpg

The some cutting and finishing.

1sep20121.jpg

Test fitting and now i only have to remove the top to get acces to the back section.

1sep20122.jpg

Then it was time to make the connections i need for the keyboard, mouse and psu.I had some things laying around and they were perfect for this project.

1sep20123.jpg

Drilled some holes and did some sanding and used M3 thread for mounting.

1sep20124.jpg

1sep20129.jpg

Then i cutt 2 pieces of aluminium and drilled some holes and tapped M3 thread in them.

1sep20126.jpg

Time to fitt.

1sep20127.jpg

1sep20128.jpg

1sep201210.jpg

1sep201211.jpg

I still need a few more connections but i first have to place a order to get them.

I bought black cable and black connectors and im already making custom cables.Im not going to use sleeve and leave the cables the way they look now.

The last couple of weeks i was drilling holes and sanding a lot of parts. So not much material to do an update but still it was a lot of work

Here is one of the things i did.

23sep1_zpseab4c481.jpg

23sep2_zpse6441240.jpg

Everything is mounted now and the only thing i need to mount is the top.

23sep3_zps3009dca6.jpg

23sep4_zpsc55b0b7e.jpg

Last saturday i made the psu cover.

First i bend the piece then weld it en at last some finishing.

23sep5_zps0e8809ad.jpg

23sep6_zps149d92c2.jpg

23sep7_zps67cdab7b.jpg

Then i drilled the holes in the frame and tapped them with m4 thread.

23sep8_zps855f75c4.jpg

The psu cover mounted on the frame and the psu mounted on the cover.

23sep9_zps201ab7aa.jpg

23sep10_zpsedf1adb3.jpg

Some jigsaw action.

23sep11_zps709416d8.jpg

23sep12_zpse7fbb6f9.jpg

Test fit.

23sep13_zps686cfc52.jpg

Then i draw a grill and cut it with the lasercutter.

23sep14_zps3e6b3f69.jpg

Drilled the mounting holes in the cover and tapped them with m3 thread and after that i mounted the grill. This is how it looks at this point.

23sep16_zps869a41e7.jpg

23sep15_zpsfb34d8c5.jpg

I need some other controls.

The controls for the columns are mounted underneath the desk and the chance you would damage it was big so i contect Linak and ask them for other controls.

The new controls.

30sep1.jpg

First i drilled the holes.

30sep2.jpg

Then i cut a piece of 3mm alu and drilled the holes for the cables.

30sep4.jpg

30sep5.jpg

Then i welded the plate and testfit the controls.

30sep6.jpg

30sep7.jpg

Then i made the mounting brackets for mounting the oak top.

First i made all the parts i need and then i drilled, tapped, welded, finisht and then mount them inside the desk.

30sep8.jpg

30sep9.jpg

30sep10.jpg

30sep11.jpg

30sep12.jpg

30sep13.jpg

After that i made a hole in the backcover and mounted the connector. The desk only needs 1 powercord the rest will be inside.

25sep1.jpg

30sep14.jpg

Like i said this is just a glimpse of what i did past 3 days and to be honest everytime i thought of taking a picture i was to late. The plan was to bring all parts to the coater tomorrow and i can tell you i made it the parts are ready to go.

All parts together.

30sep15.jpg

30sep16.jpg

30sep17.jpg

Ready to go.

30sep18.jpg

The parts are back.I unpacked some parts a made a few pictures.

coater1-1.jpg

coater2-1.jpg

coater3.jpg

coater4.jpg

Time to putt the desk together. This time i lett the pictures speak for themself.

14okt1.jpg

14okt2.jpg

14okt3.jpg

14okt4.jpg

14okt5.jpg

14okt6.jpg

14okt7.jpg

14okt8.jpg

14okt9.jpg

14okt10.jpg

14okt11.jpg

14okt12.jpg

14okt13.jpg

I also painted the parts that needed to be painted.

The frontgrill.

14okt14.jpg

Some brushing.

14okt15.jpg

Painted it with varnish.

14okt17.jpg

14okt18.jpg

Then i sanded the oak and painted it with bootslak.

14okt19.jpg

14okt20.jpg

14okt21.jpg

First i attached the frame to the backside along with the controlbox and the psu.I also mounted the oak backpanel and the new controls for the columns.

30okt1.jpg

30okt2.jpg

30okt3.jpg

The columns were not used fror some time so i did a little test and made a small movie while testing.

Then i mounted the cpu block on the motherboard.

30okt4.jpg

30okt5.jpg

Mounted the reservoirs and the motherboard on the mobotray.

30okt6.jpg

30okt7.jpg

30okt8.jpg

30okt9.jpg

Then i start bending the pipes for the first loop.

30okt10.jpg

30okt11.jpg

The loop is finisht at this point so then i mounted the gpu block and the backplate.

30okt12.jpg

30okt13.jpg

Placed the gpu on the mobo.

30okt14.jpg

30okt15.jpg

Next thing to do is instal the second gpu block and backplate and start bending the pipes for the second loop.

First i mounted the waterblock, backplate and the twincoonect on the gpu. After that i finisht bending the second loop.

I also put on the oak top on the desk just for the looks and it even looks better then i expect.

The pictures speak for themselfs so have fun watching.
