paultan Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 a short recap of the build log Hello everyone, some of you maybe familiar with me and to this build. It's already done after a year. Finally! But I want to share to you some quick worklog for this build. So you'll have a better idea how I made the Dark Knight PC. I started last year when I got one of the first batch of the COSMOS II last October 2011 but actually started posting on January 2012. after that, I suddenly had the Idea to remove the handle bars to make it more sexier. and the Idea came out. (early photoshop concept art) after a while. The Dark Knight idea grew in me. another concept art 90 deg rotated motherboard concept art for the side panel and concept art for the rear panel
paultan Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 Now let's head on to converting this case to 90 deg rotated mobo tray. First is to cut a big hole on the top and test where to actually set the mounting for motherboard. ooking good. now let's try to mod the motherboard itself. since it will be "Dark Knight" it will be a requirement to use all black parts as possible and to achieve that I really wanted to try to paint the motherboard to see if it's really possible. i used an asus Sabertooth 990FX board for this build since it will be my PC for work. removed the stickers then masked all the other parts, and painted it! and recorded a video if it will explode or will work https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10150650284013424&set=vb.549793423&type=3&theater
paultan Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 now for the GPU 3 Asus DCU II GPUs then after painting the heatsinks then later on I decided to cut it in half then for the special mounting! my original design Reverse GPU Mounting. then E22 saved my day. I had my design laser in aluminum by Nate
paultan Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 now for the corsair Airflow and Airflow PRO First initial testing of my design CLOSE UP 2nd design Final Design and Result
paultan Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 then I removed the drive cages from the bottom and placed them on the upper front
paultan Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 now for the side panel design. my concept art. now for the execution looks succesful but the sidepanels aren't friendly so I decided to make my own sidepanel but making it from acryllic looks much better. we'll see much more of it later.
paultan Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 now for the front panel I had to do it more than 3 designs and apply it on the front panel over and over just to get what really satisfy my taste. looks like an ironman case. not good. 2nd attempt. fail again. and last attempt.
paultan Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 batman logo then the FRONT I/O Cover. Cut some old USBs and made this. and the end result is this teaser photo
