Ch2pa Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 First update: First job was to plane the plank: I really love this wood! Then cut off the pieces and second planning: First test of the assembly to check the volume:
Ch2pa Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 Second update: First routing job in the flank done. Drawing the pocket: And routing: (first pass) I cut the base pieces to the right size, which allow me to have the structure with final dimensions: (the motherboard is a dead one used as template )
Ch2pa Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 Third update: The pocket in the left flank is almost done: I will have to do the pocket in the front face for the integration of the front panel and power button: The left flank will hold the PSU (in the rear) and the front panel: The right flank will hold the BluRay reader and a HDD: First, drawing the lines: Then routing: It's just the rough work, no finishing here And there is still a big piece to remove, plus the pocket in the front face for the BluRay reader. Assembly test at this point:
Ch2pa Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 Fourth update: The mortiser is back to work With the two pockets for the BluRay reader: and the front panel: I also used the mortiser to do the holes for the wood pegs The pocket in the left flank is finished:
Ch2pa Posted December 6, 2013 Author Posted December 6, 2013 Fifth update: The holes for the assembling pegs are all done, the structure can be assembled: I did the last piece of the structure, the rear one, which will support the PSU and the PCIe cards: Everything put together:
Ch2pa Posted July 29, 2014 Author Posted July 29, 2014 Sixth update: The pocket for the DVD reader is finished, the reader can now be mounted in: I am obviously using an old and dead slim reader that doesn't fear dust The rear part of the structure is also finished, the PSU now fit in:
Ch2pa Posted July 29, 2014 Author Posted July 29, 2014 Seventh update: I started to modify the front panel for its integration in the mod: I first modify the fixations: Then adjusted the wood slot so the panel can fit in: I also bought two aluminum profiles in "U" shape: The will be glued here: And will be used to fix the dust filter.
Ch2pa Posted July 29, 2014 Author Posted July 29, 2014 I cut the aluminum cover for the inner right side: It will look like this: I made a small modifiaction on the rear side:
