Project Copper build

Recommended Posts

So, I wanted to make another build for a good while now, and this time make a build log, and maybe enter a competition or two.

My background for this is simple.. I really don't like the normal cases, even though they are different, they all look they same to me.

I really liked the idea of that flat wall out-of-the case build. so that is what i went for in this one.

Lets start:

My hardware for this setup is:

1 x Asus MB Crosshair V Formula-Z
1 x AMD CPU FX8350
2 x AMD GPU VTX3D Radeon R9 280X 3GB GDDR5
2 x Corsair 8GB 2133MHZ DDR3 Ram
1 x Corsair CX 750w PSU
2 x Kingston Hyperx 3k 120GB SSD 555/510 MB/s in Raid 0 (Windows)
1 x Seagate 2000GB 7200RPM HDD (storage)

from my sponser, whom this wasn't possible without:

1 x Alphacool NexXos UT60 420mm Radiator

1 x Alphacool Coolplex pro 10 LT Res.

3 x Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-2000 PWM Fans

And of cause some fittings and some cable sleeving.

Coolerkit is a Danish company selling some good quality hardware for air and watercooling, and most other parts for doing your own pc modding, with cases, PSU's, cables and others.

The Idea:

This idea is going to have a lot of copper in it, Copper pipes, copper rad, copper paint, I think it will look really nice with the black and the little red that is on the Mb.

As mentioned before, I am going for that flat wall out-of-the case build.

The watercooling loop will be made with copper pipes, with the cooling units going in parallel instead of serial.

Unlike some of the others making these nice custom builds I don't have a lot of experience in making 3d renders, so you will have to do with a sketch i made, remember, that its only a sketch!, the complete idea, of how everything is gonna look and how its made, is in my head, and some of it I'll have to figure out along the road.

Stay tuned for more updates on the project when I start building

(just waiting for the last package wich contains the watercooling units and pump)

PS. I'm Danish, so I apologize for the bad English

So, time for an update.

Today I made som progress with the base design.

I cut out a piece of wood to try and get a feel of how it would look like, how big it will be and it gave me a good place to start drawing.

I know the drawings may seem confusing, but all chaos have its meaning, in this case the different colors means different layers of plexiglass, but more understanding will come, once I get a bit further.

Stay tuned.

In total there will be 5 plates of Plexiglass mounted on each other, the first front one with the mobo, res and pump, then the three middle ones will be glued together, with a cut out for the cables and I might put in some led's so that the second and fourth plate edges will be lit up. The last and fifth plate is the back plate, wich will be bend aswell, on this plate, the PSU, and the harddrives will be mounted.

So the cut out for the rad begins,

This is the three middle plates. As you can see, the two outer plates, the second and the fourth, are different, I gave them legs! well not finished legs, but they will be bent in oposit directions and supported.
