Sphinx818
Hi all! So 2016 is off to a great start thus far. The world series is a great time of the year for me, as I get to share my passion with all of you around the world and to also see the inspiring mods that all of you are creating! So to start things off for my mod, it will be a tower mod this year. The case is a Cooler Master Cosmos SE, I decided on this chassis, as I believe that it encapsulates the main visual aspects of the Cosmos S or SII without being as large and cumbersome. The hardware for this build: Case: Cooler Master Cosmos SE Motherboard: Asus ROG Maximus IV Gene-Z CPU: Intel Core i7 3770 3.4GHz GPU: Gainward Phantom 3 GTX 580 3GB DDR5 RAM: Kingston Hyper X Genesis 2x4GB DDR3 16000MHz PSU: Raidmax 1200W HDD: 2x Western Digital Green 2TB Mouse: Cooler Master CM Storm Reaper (Proudly Provided to me by Cooler Master South Africa) Keyboard: SteelSeries Apex [RAW] Monitor: Philips 27" The theme that I will be using for this mod, is inspired by the awesome Steam Punk! *Note I will be using a custom water loop for this mod. Below are the standard images of the chassis: As you can see, clean case out of the box! Now some of the hardware... PSU: (I love the box that it was sent in) GPU: I know that it is an old model, but I am happy with its performance! Water cooling parts: The CPU Block: Motherboard with the new CPU waterblock on: So let's get started... I installed everything into the chassis so that I can check spacing, clearances, etc. as part of my planning process. Installed the water loop and did the usual paper towel leak tests! Some closeup goodness... I positioned the triple 120mm XSPC radiator within the chassis for two reasons, the primary one being that it was the easiest as I wanted to use the existing 3.5" hard drive mountings at the bottom-front of the case, which also ended up doubling as a radiator stand. The second reason was that I did not want to externally mount the radiator. Below you can see how the system looked as standard. Now time to get modding... Sphinx818
Sorry for the gap in the updates! But here we go: The theme I have decided to go with, is a steam punk and rusted brass appearance. This is my reference for the textures that I am going to hand paint for this system: And here I have started painting the surface of the machine: On the Cosmos SE it has a great looking grill at the top of the chassis, I decided that this will add a unique look, especially with the mesh over it (I started to work with the top of the case). I then decided that with the above references (to rust), I wanted the machine to resemble something of the ocean that had years and years of water running down from it. More to come! Sphinx818
Some more modding goodness from Sphinx Mods! Alright, so I decided that the texture that I have applied to the surface of the Cosmos SE is perfect for this theme, as it is physically different, and in turn literally feels different to the touch. Here is a detailed shot of the top fan cover of the Cosmos SE: This is what the machine looked like before I added the gold detail to the chassis: A (not so) clear close-up of the gold detail: A shot where I added the final amount of detail to front side: A closer look at the front I/O panel: Here is a front shot of Envy in all her glory: More to come... Sphinx818
Hi all! I have finished the Envy mod! This project has been a real pleasure to work on, and it needs to be said... a Tower Mod always looks better when it's in a Cosmos chassis! Please see the final images of the system in all its glory! Enjoy. And the final banner of Envy:
