RandomDesign Posted September 24 Author Posted September 24 And now all the parts were painted in a grey tone. After that, they were all weathered with brown, black and white. Just by dabbing on multiple layers on edges or surfaces that should look dirty. In addition, I applied a black wash to further darken the paint job. Basically all parts were done the same, so lets more right into the final assembly! Most of the cold cast pieces were glued to the PLA pieces. Normal super glue was more then enough to create a strong bond. And working on the upper part of the leg. All the bigger parts are not glued together. That way, I can easily disassemble the mod later if I want to make some changes or replace a part.
RandomDesign Posted September 24 Author Posted September 24 For the stability, I included a 2 x 2 cm aluminum profile in the legs. That should bear all the weight of the upper headsection, so there will not be too much load on the 3D printed parts. Then, I could just slide all the parts on the profile. The part that holds the cylinders, nicely covers the 90° connector to the middle section. Then it was already time to screw the legs to a wooden base board. The wood was colored black to match the over all design and look.
RandomDesign Posted September 24 Author Posted September 24 Last part to be assembled was the head section. All the details really added up and gave everything mor depth. The "ellbow" piece is just screwed into place from the inside. So it also can be easily removed. I already pulled all the cables through for the LEDs in the weapon. After the weapon arms were painted, I installed the LEDs in the gun barrels and added red cables as a detail. For more details, I cutted some vinyl stickers, that match the design from the movie. To not have empty rocket pods, the rockets I made earlier were put into place.
RandomDesign Posted September 24 Author Posted September 24 Finally, the hardware was also modified. I removed all the metal parts from the motherboard and painted them black. In addition, I added some vinyl stickers to create some kind of engine look. Afterwards, the painted areas were also weatheres. The memory was disassembled. I removed the white paint and used some metal wax for the ewathering. The black detail strip was also sanded down a little for even more weathering effects. The GPU was also taken apart. the former white pieces were all painted blac. Then I drybrushed a metallic paint over the edges to make it look more used. Now I just need to make some final pictures.
RandomDesign Posted September 24 Author Posted September 24 (edited) And up we go with some final pictures. And just to get the scale in perspective. We are looking at about 90 cm height. Unfortunately, I hadnt a banana on hand so you have to live with me in the background Edited September 24 by RandomDesign 2 1
