babetech
Hy, this is my Entry to the 2013 Casemod Competition. It will contain 2 independent Systems & Motion Simulator The motion Sim will be the first part which will be build, because for 1 of the Systems i will use the Frame of the Motion Sim as a part of the Chassis, it will be used to controll the movement of the Sim chair. The Second System will be assembled with Gaming Hardware so that it finally will be able to run all those games for which i build the Sim. The Name MS01 is just a working title and will be changed during the building phase.... One of the most important parts already arrived and with that seat i could start taking all necessary measures which were needed to build the first parts of the Frames.... babetech
After welding the first frame, i cutted a part from a real car, so that i could use it to mount the upper frame on the base frame, so that it can be easily moved by the motors which will be added later.... then i continued the work on the upper frame.... and then it was time to mount the upper frame on the base frame for the first time.... babetech
my next step was that i had to prepare the mountings for the motors which will move the upper part....so i took some massive steel angles, cutted them to the right side and drilled all needed holes...so that i could weld them to the lower frame.... I also overworked the lower frame to bring more strength to it and made it a bit more rigid to prevent unwanted bendings during the movement....beside that i also prepared the mounting points on the upper frame ... after that i prepared the mounting parts for the potentiometers which will take the position of the motors and report them back to the electronics...i also prepared the handbrake which will later be mounted on the right side of the sim... Then i started to work on the upper frame again...the front part had to be overworked, so that i could mount my racing wheel on the sim....so i had to cut and weld a few other pieces to the frame.... As next i prepared the bottom of the upper frame....for that i used an old CM sidepanel, which fitted in the free space nearly perfect...on that old sidepanel i mounted a few drawer slides which will be used to change the exact position of the pedals (for shorter and taller drivers...) babetech
as next i cutted and bended the next aluminum pieces so that i could use them as cover and mounting plate for the switches which will be used... after that i started to build the hood for the upper frame.... and then .... after a short test of the electronics....i started to paint the upper frame....and its covers.... babetech
before i could start to paint the lower frame i had to overwork a few parts...and i also prepared the bottom cover so that i could paint all part at once....beside that i also tested a few different hardware arrangements...so that i could start to build the enclosure for the hardware which will be used in the controll PC.
