Valgar Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Hello World! I'm Valgar, I introduced myself on Tower mods. I take this opportunity to make another project in this category. I thought to make a Pc that combines the airflow characteristics of a hovercraft and the computer functionality. 2
Valgar Posted July 11 Author Posted July 11 Future word actually is strictly related to sustainability. Like "Qubed" work, the purpose of this build is to employ as much as possible reusable materials. Like every effective hovercraft, it has a rubber ring around the edge that lifts it off the ground with an air cushion. I found an old motorcycle tube and I'm going to use that like a rubber ring. 1
Valgar Posted July 15 Author Posted July 15 Tube was so dirt and ugly but after a deep clean the result is good. Then I cut and glued the ends of the tube with caps found in some recycled plastic cans.
Valgar Posted July 18 Author Posted July 18 New update: I made a temporary structure to bring the tube. I divided the tube because the main idea is to have the possibility to remove the tube that surround the structure for maintenance purpose. I took some measure, drawn on the paper and I found a steel profile to use for the main frame. 1
Valgar Posted July 27 Author Posted July 27 The bottom of the frame is completed. Here some technical drawings of the tube plastics. These components allows to remove easily the tube and to avoid direct contact to the frame.
Valgar Posted July 31 Author Posted July 31 I used this scrap to make four hand-curved plate to join the plastic guide. Galvanizing is good, probably I'll refinishing with black paint after the first complete building. I added fastening straps on plastics to keep the tube close. The tube now can be set.
Valgar Posted August 4 Author Posted August 4 In this backplate stolen from an old case, I made holes for newer motherboard. I'll use a micro-Atx form factor. This the result of custom cuts. With another scrap I made the brackets of the radiators. These coolers are a 120mm Alphacool 45 mm thick copper radiators that will be set for the Cpu custom loop. I bended edges manually like other metal pieces that I used in these projects. I made holes with angle grinder and finished with metal files.
Valgar Posted August 7 Author Posted August 7 This is another scrap that I used to make a steel support for the radiators. Simply cut and welded on measure. These support allows to place radiators tilted by 45 degrees. 1
Valgar Posted August 11 Author Posted August 11 Ok, I began with the second part of the frame. In this photo some filler and threaded holes applied to the bracket. Some reinforcements on the radiators brackets. The beginning of the gpu bracket. I started with a scrap that I used also for "Qubed" tower mod. This bracket has also a place for a pair of 80mm fans. Same bending method marked Valgar. I mean, there are some different technologically advanced way of working but it's not my style for now Bracket almost finished This is the piece of metal that I used for the rear IO shield bracket. Bended, drilled, almost finished bracket. A shot of my mod studying period during Olympic Games in Paris. A clearer photo of the frame with mounted Cpu radiators. 1
