Timpelay
Been a while now during summer vacation and traveling. I need to speed things up now! Speaker element housing, part for upper and lower element.
Timpelay
As I mentioned before Bilstereohörnan decided to help me with speakers, cables and terminals according to my requirements. Speaker elements will be Ground Zero GZTF 5.2X, a 5,25" coaxial speaker with only 3 Ohm impendance. This means I can run a x3 setup in series for each channel and end up with 9 Ohm in total. I'll use an amplifier with lots of power rated for 8 Ohm which will give more than enough for my little heavier 9 Ohm channel setup. The yellow membrane will fit perfect with my other color choice - purple. Edited August 13 by Timpelay
Timpelay
Printing time! Starting with the bottom housing which got the terminals. Printing in PLA with the color purple glitz - an amazing combo with the yellow membrane.
Timpelay
Again, huge shout out to Bilstereohörnan for support. They usually work with car audio builders but decided to help with this very unusual project.
Timpelay
We fast forward a bit, been printing 24/7 with the prototypes passing my inspection. Back housing and front element housings popping up! Will make one side array and then tweak assembly mounting points if nessesary for the second array. Threaded inserts, screws and glue will make these things rigid and easy to install cables and elements in.
Timpelay
Just look at this! Element array screwed together. Fits perfect to back housing array. They will be glued together producing one rigid single speaker!
Timpelay
Some proper terminals right there. Printing is now done for both sides and assembly starts right away. I'm also doing internal cables and soon ready to mount the speakers and take them for a test run! Edited August 20 by Timpelay
Timpelay
Internal wiring with elements in series. First test! Verdict: Works like a charm playing with my Harman/Kardon Citation AMP (will not use this in the build as I first intended, update coming) Clean and balanced sound at very low level. Will have them tested at mid and high volume when the kids aren't asleep
Timpelay
Test mount and test play! They sound delicious. Got my new amplifier, Fosi Audio BT30D Pro with 2 channels + Sub and it works like a charm with my 9 Ohm impedance speakers. A clear sound with bass above my expectation coming from 5,25" woofers. And there's volume enought just from one arry. This is going to be awesome!
Timpelay
Feeling pretty confident with the speaker and amplifier setup atm it's time for something else. While using the space suitable for radiators to my speaker arrays, I'll build custom water cooling for the CPU and use the stock Nvidia FE cooler (as it's gorgeous) for the GPU. My choice will be to top mount 2x 120mm radiators using a custom console bracket and have them levitating above the motherboard. This gives me the ability to build a really interesting loop using a custom made CM-Logo flow-plate. The two radiators will be mounted side by side giving me 4 symmetrical ports to work with. I'll use the two closest and and make a spectacular transfer between them. A 3 layer acrylic CM logo distro Laser cutting it using 5 mm and 6 mm thick transparent acrylic. Will glue it together as one piece. With a close look you'll see there are no screw holes or mounts - that's because I will mount it using the hard tubing!
