  1. Breathing some new life into my old EVGA 1070 SC2, I have laser cut some cherry wood for test fitment, needs a stain and it should be good to go.
  2. Sorted out the cable management whilst I'm awaiting a new AIO cooler for the CPU.
  3. A round of test fitting I actually managed to fit two 120mm AIO liquid coolers the H80 rad is just too cumbersome, and the tubing is way too stiff, I managed to get everything in including the water-cooled GPU and got it to post with no issue. That being said there was so much pressure on the GPU backplate I chose to pull it all out and order A 25mm radiator as 50mm is just too big.
  4. Gutted the old build to reuse what I can time to see what does and doesn't fit.
  5. A secondary colour/metallic to complement the build is my favourite metal, that being copper. Original fan grills were stripped and spraypainted with self-etching primer followed up with a deep copper.
  6. So, the top patina stripe lines up perfectly with the front of the case and has got some lovely colouring to it.
  7. Currently in the process of stripping and applying a patina to the exposed stripe of exposed metal post lasering, which will run parallel to the front\ mesh. This has been the most difficult so far there is no room for error. It's a process of tape, spray rinse repeat. If I'm not careful I'll damage the powder coating to either side. So far so good....
  8. Have a bit of time on my hands until new wood and materials arrive so started designing a badge for the case, this is laser cut from Indian apple wood, and stained with Danish oil.
  9. Seeing as the orientation of the case is now vertical, I have chosen to route the power out the top back (when in vertical position) there will be a rubber gasket cut to size so there is no pressure or friction on the power cord.
  10. The front/top patina strip came out great, I wish former me had thought of just lasering off the paint from the first panel, would have been much less labour intensive. I will still try the build with a wooden front panel but until then I'm undecided.
  11. Currently lasering off the paint on the strip of the top mesh panel to add a clean patina to the front. This may or may not make it to the final build as I still have some wood panels on order and would like to see what goes well together.
  12. So, the build is starting to take some form. I have some wood samples coming in this week and I can get started cutting the front vent. Stay tuned...
  13. So, this is the progression of the patina, first picture is after 30 minutes 2nd picture after a full hour. It really came up better than I had hoped.
  14. I really underestimated the paint job and steel treatment from Cooler Master, this took 3 rounds of paint stripper and wet sanding with 80 grit through till 1200 grit. I have just started to add a patina to the steel with a combo of vinegar, peroxide and salt I'll add photos to show how the patina progresses.
  15. We are vertical! New legs are in, there will be some adjustments and colour changes along the way!
  16. Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by to check out my build log. I will be transforming the NR200p into a vertical tower encompassing elements of nature mixed with an industrial retro theme. I have just started stripping the case and ordering parts. This week I hope to start modifying the side and front panels and start drawing up designs for the top vent. Parts that will be included in the build will be transferred from my old system. -i5 6600k clocked at 4.8ghz -16 gb ddr4 ram -z170 motherboard -1070 water cooled -600-watt sfx PSU I'm a bit late to the party but I'm really looking forward to how this evolves over the coming weeks. All the best and looking forward to all you amazing builds!
