This will be my buildlog for a custom desk made out of birch, mahogany and steel. If you don't want the text just scroll down for the pictures:)

Prologue:

So about 2 years ago I wanted to build my own custom build and I set myself on to make a desk build but I wanted to be different so I decided I'll have a welded steel frame and a hardwood shroud as well as mahogany and teak interior. What you will see here is an insane amount of work and I hope someone enjoys it:) I intend to enlist in scratch build competitions as well as be at several events such as Dreamhack in sweden and so on.

The welding continues. Now I have room for my legs and the fanholes covered.

That's for my knees

Gonna have some temperature gauges here

The wood was ordered from a local shop. Birch is hard and heavy. Not very light:) but that doesn't matter

Dimensions for the panels were 1700x230x70 and 2x900x230x70

Having some fun with the Caselabs motherboard trash and the PSU

Wanted a certain shape to the wood so I went to the shop and had them roughly cut and then sanded by hand to the desired shape. This was rather tidious

After my rough drawing on the custom reservoir Singularity Computers returned with this design. It looks amazing

Time to get started with the inner panels then. Using some 20 year airdried mahogany and teakpanels for this. It's the same stuff you put on your wooden boat basically.

Quite a few hours later

Had to redo some of the metalwork due to some late design changes. Thanks Michael for the help on this one!

Ended up plasmacutting a new bottom for the starboard side

This will do:)

In order to make a perfectly round whole one has to make a piece like this to lathe it out:)

Then had to take away about half an inch to make room for the fans

That looks pretty decent
