SpaceMods - SpaceCase v1.0

Hi everyone!

Our names are Konstantinas Paukštė and Ignas Blaževičius, we're a team of beginner modders from Lithuania and we're very excited to participate in the contest after many years of spectating it. Though we have experience in crafting and using CNC, this is the first time for us modding a PC for such as large scale contest.

First of all, a huge shout out for gaming peripherals and computers shop Spacebar for sponsoring this project - thanks to them we got all the parts, idea for our modding and project names, as well as project theme.

SpaceCase v1.0 will be themed around Spacebar's design theme and pattern, SciFi and space. We're going to blend different ideas together and create something unique - while we're still not sure how it will go, we're looking forward to seeing the final result!

^This is one of many designs that we'll try to implicate in the final mod

Parts used in the project:

Case - Cooler Master MasterCase H500

CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 3600X

CPU Cooler - Cooler Master ML240L V2 (AIO Liquid)

Motherboard - Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite

RAM - Trident Z RGB NEO 32GB (4 × 8GB) 3200Mhz CL16

SSD - Adata SX8200 PRO 256GB NVMe

GPU - MSI RX 5600XT Gaming X

PSU - Cooler Master MWE 750W 80+Gold + Deepcool Sleeved Extensions

Case Fans - Cooler Master MasterFan MF122R RGB (4pcs.)

Cooler Fans - Cooler Master MasterFan MF120 Halo (2pcs.)

We are using Cooler Master parts for two reasons - firstly, Spacebar is an official dealership for CM, secondly, since the contest is organized by CM, we thought that it'd be appropiate to use Cooler Master components. Oh, and only Cooler Master had the the fans design which we wanted (black fan with slim LED ring).

Some pics of the beginning!

Parts for SpaceCase v1.0 project

Parts have just arrived! We received the case earlier so it wasn't that difficult to move everything to the workshop.

Building the PC to check if there's any faulty parts, install Windows OS, drivers and RGB software

Cable extensions, fan hub and thermal compounds have arrived! We ain't gonna use them now, but it's good to know they're already here.

And a few pics of built PC

It is a real mess but it will be disassembled soon so we didn't go for good cable management - just made sure everything works and we can move forward!

Now some ideas that we're going to implement:

  • New top of the case design - now there's only dust filter
  • Custom shroud  - to hide I/O cables and change design (it will be longer, we're still thinking about making it full-length)
  • Front fans covers (from back side) - while they look really good, you can see some LEDs from angles they look quite unpleasantly
  • Alternative energy supply for components - more on that in later posts, idea is still being developed, that will be the visual side of the project
  • Stickers/paintings/etc. with Spacebar design

For now, that's all!

We'll try to keep worklog update, share pictures to show the progress and hopefully create something amazing!

GG!
