ApocPony
3d printed brackets for the new top panel, once I have the top shell printed, I will wrap it with genuine buffalo leather.
ApocPony
The main body for the 3d printed shell and leather wrap is done for the most part, I will add some trimming to the sides and the front to tidy it up a little. This has been the most time-consuming part of the project I'm so relieved it has come out looking as good as it has.
ApocPony
playing around with some leather trim, after getting the fitment right and tweaking a few things I believe I'll 3d print the trim with actual copper and oxidise it, should give the trim a nice green blue patina. ApocPony
After 3d printing the copper trim I hit it with a salt and vinegar mix to speed up the oxidisation process this took around 24 hours to reach the deep green/blue palette you see in the images. ApocPony
The oxidised copper adds an interesting palette and contrast to the wood leather and rust, working on the trim running down the sides and bottom of the case for continuity. ApocPony
After lots of printing, sanding, oxidising and clearcoat the copper trimming is finished. Thought I'd play around with some ideas for the inside and add to the GPU shroud some colour.
ApocPony
Credit to my wife who came up with the clever idea of adding a retro Eddison bulb to the build, it's a led and only draws around 2 watts, I'll look into rewiring it to a molex connector. ApocPony
I refitted a 12v led and made my own housing out of some old brass pipes I had laying around, the lamp now runs directly of a 12v Molex, so everything is internal in the system. ApocPony
Starting to touch up some of the finer details, added brass brackets to the front trim to hide the copper seams and make it more congruent. added some brass rings to the AIO tubing for the GPU. Still have a lot of things to do but I feel the build is finally approaching the finish line.
