Jean R built - Da Module Thingy (Not sponsored, Handmade, it's the first time for me at CMWS)

I've made various social media accounts in the last couple of days and a twitter account, it does what I wasn't comfortable to do with Imgur, it helps with my short videos that I usually record for myself, but now I use them to post short updates.

I'm busy pushing to the finish line and this way it's easier for me, I'll continue to post on the build log and to upload on the Youtube channel, but this way it's more convenient when I'm too busy.

On the Youtube channel you can see how it's crafted, with these post I'll post general projects updates, I tried to embed my twitter post in this forum but it didn't work that good at least in the preview.

Here some photos I shoot during the assembly of the MoBo back into the case after I put the new handle module in place, if you are curious you can see how the Mobo power cable hides between the MoBo and the storage frame.

Then some photos of Leetfoot here the backbone started taking shape

This is with the other bends added and the connector for the hub-backbone with its final shape, on twitter you can see 2 short videos about it, it's still missing the top security locking mechanism but I'm getting there

and here some of the Leetfoot fingers parts as I started to work on them again to give them the final shape and finishing, it's a boring job but it must be done

I'm making progress with the fingers, here a photo of the sections really close to their final shape, the longer ones are first in line for the next modification.

Even if it doesn't look like much, it's a big leap forward for me and the project, I spent the last 3 days shaping only the end tip of the fingers sections, but now they are good for the finishing phase.

Doing repetitive jobs like this is boring for me, but the end result will hopefully pay off in the end.

I wanted to repost here an answer to a question on the bit-tech forums, about the problems with the hot glue I put inside the base of the frame with the new reinforcement block.

REPOST

"I could have assembled it without glue, it had to be hammered to slip inside the frame tube and it has a M5 security screw from the top that now is hidden by the PSU.

I put a drop of glue so it could help with vibrations, but after having to hammer it I doubt it will do anything at all.

I'm sure that this corner won't ever get that hot, it's the base so I think that it's probably the coolest place inside the case, and being air-cooled the temperature inside the case is always about +/- 1 °C compared to the ambient temperature of my living room.

Cheers"

END OF THE REPOST

Have a nice day

Episode 14

You can see a super compressed cut of the 3 days of fingers shaping, the new rear fingers attachment point, and the fixing of the backbone gap

as for the general situation of the project I'm going to start with the finishing by tomorrow.

I'm not posting too much updates about it right now for three reasons:

A ) The clock is ticking, and it's getting louder the more we get close to the end of January

B ) I didn't want to show it almost completed but scratched as I think that it ruins the final impression of the project completed

C ) The locking system wasn't as straightforward as I hoped it would be, I didn't like the look of the first locking system even if it worked, now there is a new one simpler but more slender and compact.

There should be only one more Episode before the final presentation video, maybe two if it's too long for one Episode.

Maybe I will post a last 3D sketch on twitter so you can see how the fingers are positioned on the completed Hub.

Cheers

The 3D sketch I told you about

@JeanRbuilt 3D Sketch

I like this configuration a lot more for the fingers, having all of them spreading from about the same point gives the look I wanted and more flexibility on how I can position them.

I scrapped the fingers shells, they limit the fingers flexibility and cover the details of the fingers sections, I came to the conclusion that the fingers look already interesting and elaborate as it is.

Have a nice day

Hi all, the new and last Episode of this little epic journey is online.

With the scrapping of the fingers shells concept and the 8 fingers having 8 sections now, the total number of parts excluding the fastening and the locking pin for Leetfoot is 115 parts

I'm posting this quick update before going back to the Spacelab for the finishing touches to Da Module Thingy so they look Dapper on the presentation Photos and Video 😎.

Cheers
